NEWS RELEASE
The Lakeridge Community Association is excited to announce that we were approved for $33,750 of federal funding for the rejuvenation of our tennis/pickleball court through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF). Financial support was also provided by the City of Saskatoon, the Lakeridge Community Association and individual community members.
The Lakeridge Community Association would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who made this project possible. Healthy outdoor activities are important to the mental and physical well-being of our residents. This new court will provide a recreational space for community members, and those from neighbouring communities, to enjoy for many years to come!
For more than 20 years, the Lakeridge Community Association has leased and operated the tennis court area of Crocus Park, the only public park in the Lakeridge neighbourhood. The park provides residents with a number of amenities to enjoy throughout the year including the tennis court, which was in need of repair. With the growing interest in pickleball, the new multi-use tennis/pickleball court will be a welcome addition to our community.
The Crocus Park court project includes:
- Removing fencing
- Cleaning debris
- Removing existing asphalt
- Installing new asphalt
- Painting court lines
- Installing new net posts and nets
- Reinstalling fencing and any necessary landscape repairs
“Our government is continuing to invest in communities across Saskatchewan to build and renew recreational infrastructure, bringing people together to connect and stay active. Recreational spaces like the Crocus Park tennis and pickleball court will encourage residents to spend time together in their community.”
− The Honourable Daniel Vandal, Minister for PrairiesCan
The Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF) is delivered in Saskatchewan by Prairies Economic Development Canada and helps communities rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fund assists non-profit organizations, municipalities, community groups and Indigenous communities across Canada to build and improve community infrastructure projects.

MORE PICTURES TO FOLLOW as the work continues.
Phase 1 is complete!
Phase 1 of the tennis court has been completed. The asphalt has been laid and the federal grant that we received will cover those expenses. We ran into a couple of issues but those seem to have been resolved now. Phase 2, slated for late spring/early summer, will see the final coat of finishing done to the surface and then our new pickle ball/tennis court will be ready for use.
The LAKERIDGE Annual General Meeting allows a community association to do three things – to report on the past year’s activities, to present plans for the future, and to receive input from the members.
Our AGM is held in April, but you can volunteer or attend any of our meetings.

BOTTLE DRIVE FUNDRAISER -
WATCH FOR THE DATE!!
GOFUNDME LCA. FUNDRAISER
For over 20 years, the Lakeridge Community Association has owned and operated the tennis court area in Crocus Park. Crocus Park is the only public park in the Lakeridge neighbourhood, and is a hub for the neighbourhood offering a number of amenities for residents to enjoy throughout the year, and the tennis court is a key part of that. Repairs for a tennis court are expensive, and with the growing interest in pickleball, the Association will be looking to improve this court surface, while also incorporating modifications to line markings and net height in order to allow both activities to be available. We are excited about the programming and public use opportunities that will come with this "court remodel" ! Our hope is to have these changes take place in 2021, but will depend on the fundraising possible.
